Community-led Growth
How vertical SaaS leaders use community as GTM: peer forums, operator guilds, and the network effects that turn users into distribution.
What This Covers
Community-led growth treats a peer network as the primary channel: operator groups, user conferences, private forums, certification programs, and the referral traffic they generate. In vertical SaaS the community is often the industry itself rather than a product user base.
Why GTM Is Different Here
It works in vertical markets because the buyers already know each other. Trade associations, regional groups, and franchise networks are pre-existing distribution that horizontal vendors cannot buy their way into. That makes the payback profile different: community spend looks expensive per event and compounds over years, so measuring it on last-touch attribution kills it before it works. The operating requirement is a real content and programming cadence plus someone credible enough in the industry to convene it. Done badly it becomes a customer support forum with a marketing budget attached.
