Call Coaching
Reach for Call Coaching after a discovery or demo call, while the call is still fresh enough to check against the recording.
- A rep wants feedback that points at a moment in the call. Every coaching point carries a quote with its time, or a grade that says how sure the coach is.
- A manager needs the same rubric on every call. Each category has a fixed rubric, so two managers reach the same score from the same transcript.
- A deal has stalled after a call and nobody knows why. The key moments and the MEDDPICC coverage show what the call did and did not reach.
- A demo ran without the discovery pains. The demo checks show whether the buyer was shown the things that matter to the room.
The skill scores the call and names one focus area. It never turns a score into pay or ranking.
Calls get graded from memory, and two managers who listen to the same call often reach different verdicts. Sales call coaching only works when the rubric is fixed and every point can be checked against the recording. This skill scores one discovery or demo call against the team's methodology, and every coaching point comes with a quote and its time, or with a grade that says how sure the coach is.
Two Rubrics, One Scale
The call type decides the rubric. A discovery call scores seven categories out of 35: pre-call preparation, SPIN discovery quality, Priority Ladder execution, active listening, value articulation, next steps and momentum, and alternatives. A demo scores eight categories out of 40, covering the meeting opening and close, teach and tailor, pain alignment and proof, question the problem, pain-to-workflow mapping, prospect engagement and resistance handling. Each category is scored 1 to 5 with an evidence line, and the total is written as N of M, with the count of scored categories beside it.
Discovery totals read as Excellent from 31 to 35, Good from 24 to 30, Needs Improvement from 17 to 23, Poor from 10 to 16 and Critical from 7 to 9. Demo totals use their own bands for 40. A total with five or six categories scored shows its scored count and no band, and a total with fewer than five categories scored gives no overall score.
Evidence Grades And Key Moments
A coaching point is graded Strong when it has a quote with its time, Moderate when it paraphrases what was said with its time, and Weak when it is inferred from what did not happen, with the reasoning written. A point with no quote and no grade is removed.
Key moments fall into seven types: objection, buying signal, discovery breakthrough, commitment, missed opportunity, competitive intelligence and red flag. Each type captures the fields it needs. One call is one observation, so a habit becomes a pattern only after five cases.
Demo Checks
A demo has five elements, the introduction, the problem restatement, the solution, the return on investment and the next steps. Questions run through the solution and the return on investment. Each element has a starting pacing share, and the report sets the call's own minutes against it, with the count beside each figure. The skill also builds a per-attendee block and checks five technical lines, each as Yes, No or Unknown. A return on investment is never filled with defaults. If the buyer gave no inputs, the report says so.
Core Workflow
Gather the call context first, including the prep sheet and any earlier coaching. Check the source, because a labelled transcript supports every category, while notes support only the categories their evidence allows. Score the category rows, grade the MEDDPICC coverage and the champion tests, and map pain depth. Mark the key moments, and run the demo checks when the call is a demo. Finish with up to three strengths, up to three improvements, one focus area and one next action. The report comes back inline, and a file is written only when you ask.
What It Reads
This skill reads the Company, Buyer Personas, Core Pain Points, Proof Points, Competitive Landscape, Sales Methodology and Call Coaching sections of the client profile. The Call Coaching section holds the team's own category names and pacing. From the Context OS knowledge base it opens the account's folder for its earlier calls and notes, and the personas under people. A call recorder or CRM read is offered, asked for and read only, and nothing is written back. A pasted transcript works the same way.
Where It Fits
Call Coaching sits in the Work The Deal chain, after Meeting Prep and before Deal Pulse, MEDDPICC Analysis and Stakeholder Mapping. It reads the prep sheet from Meeting Prep by field name, and it reads Deal Pulse for the before and after view. Its champion status and key moments pass to Deal Pulse, MEDDPICC Analysis and Meeting Prep. The Business Case & ROI Kit can read this skill's results, and this skill is free and works on its own.
